They are neighbors thats how. Elena changed this day because at first she didn't really notice to what is happening to the U.S.A. All she really cared about is Eugene till she started to figure out that U.S.A is changing. That day a very powerful loving man was murdered and his name was John Fitzgerald Kennedy. November 22, 1963 was the very day that JFK was killed.
